Lozarhythm of the Day:
Bobby Vee - Take Good Care Of My Baby (recorded June 1961, Los Angeles CA)
R.I.P. Bobby Vee (b. 30 April 1943, Fargo ND; d. 24 October 2016, Rogers MN)
Bobby Vee (vocal) with Barney Kessel, Tommy Allsup, and Howard Roberts (guitar), Robert Florence (piano), Clifford Hills (bass guitar), Earl Palmer (drums),  the Johnny Mann Singers and Sid Sharp (string arrangements)
I'd intended to pick Don't Ever Change by the Crickets, with whom he recorded at the time (for example More Than I Can Say), but although it was written for him by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, it turns out it was Jerry Naylor and Sonny Curtis who ended up singing on the record. He had a number of big hits in the early sixties by Brill Building writers, particularly Goffin and King, who wrote Take Good Care Of My Baby. The lyric had the singer as a character who had cheated on his girlfriend and been dumped. It is addressed to her new boyfriend by her now penitent former lover - quite innovative for the time.
