Beech Trees

A different walk, thanks to Matthew Kelly's "Quartz and Feldspar" saw us heading up the East Dart from Postbridge, past some wonderful interlocking stone circles and down to Fernworthy plantation and reservoir, then back up on to the moor and across to the Warren House Inn. This isolated pub must rank as the best place to finish a walk. We were told that the wood fire has been continuously burning for 170 years. All the trees looked superb, but the beech rows, often seemingly planted right on top of stone walls, were truly amazing.
