Mother-To-Be

A movement caught my attention. It was slower than the usual lizard scrabble to cover. When I stopped she stopped also, in full view. She didn’t move even when I bent down to get a shot of her. I guess she’s feeling rather heavy.

These NZ endemic lizards don’t lay eggs, but give birth to babies. I’d love to see a litter, but I’ve never been so lucky.
