Not quite a 'Selfie'!

After sharing some thoughts recently on the global energy crisis and its effect on life as we know it, I searched my files for some shots taken during the electricity blackouts in London in the 1970s and came across this experimental electronically enhanced image taken by my colleague Denis Risley of The Times, in a darkened studio lit only by a single candle at a distance of 25 ft when we were playing with a night sight attachment currently on trials for surveillance or military use, attached to a Nikon 35mm film camera.

Not a great picture by any means, and although anyone can easily produce much better results with a budget priced compact digital today, it made an interesting topic for discussion at the time and I still marvel at how excited we were to have achieved this ghastly result more than 40years ago.
