Real Money

Whilst rummaging for something completely unrelated, I came across some bags of money.  I'm a self-confessed hoarder of all sorts of interesting junk (much to Mrs MD's frustration) so, when decimalisation raised its ugly head in 1971 - I put lots of old coinage into bags and stored/hid them away.  All these are pre-decimal with the exception of the piles of Queen's Jubilee Crowns (5/-) at each corner.  They were legal tender, but very rarely used as such.
Real money - nostalgia for some, a mystery to others :-)

If anyone is interested - all that lot - excluding the Jubilee Crowns - add up to £1 15s 2d  =  £1.76 (I think).  And it weighs 14 oz (400g).

No wonder pockets and purses wore out so quickly :-)
