Nothing happens here...

Super trucker....

Mistaken identity...

I caught up with the back of this lorry dragging a trailer badged up 'Scania T580' on my way home this afternoon. Having an interest in lorries it was one I was aware of and the Scania up front is a real beast. What a Blip! Sadly the unit on the front was not the usual one but a very smart Volvo. Whatever, these beautiful lorries are a credit to Longthornes, the family that own and operate them.

A photo Tribute on Flickr describes the vehicles better than I can....

"Ken Longthornes operate a small fleet of tippers, both artics and 8 wheel rigids from the village of Hebden not far from Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. They also operate a couple of immaculate cattle trucks on long distance sheep transport.

In 2002 the company bought a Scania T cab, mated it to an appropiate length tipper trailer and used it daily but also as a "flagship" or the fleet. Eventually it was sold on. After a few years the brothers decided that they missed the T cab so the search was on for another. Not easy to find now as Scania has long since stopped making the T cab. Eventually one was sourced and it was stripped and prepared for service with the addition of a "Highline" cab.

V8RXT was put into daily use from local quarrys on stone haulage across Yorkshire and the North East looking and sounding simply Superb especially when hooked to her trailer."

Today's vehicle was P700XXX, a Volvo FH16 660, 6x2 midlift unit, normally mated to a livestock 3 axle trailer.
