The Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge.....

This is situated in Canal Street very close to where Foster and Rastrick company had their factory.
If you have never heard of them then this is an interesting fact, they built the first locomotive that ran in the USA on a main line in 1829, "The Stourbridge Lion"    For the Delaware and Hudson Canal Co and it was to be used in Honesdale near a coal-bearing region named Carbondale. It was scrapped within the year as their rails couldn't take the weight and hammering the pistons gave it, parts of the engin now rest in the Smithsonian Institute.
The second Loco was the Agenoria which is now in the National Railway Museum in York this was built in 1828 and used on the Pennsnett Light railway also know as the "Shutend Railway"

Sadly most of the building have gone, but not forgotten.

I went to the Stourbridge Camera Club last night for a very interesting competition, where three teams put their work on the screen in turn and then the other two have to get a match with their work, two of mine were chosen and one won it's section.
