Gently down the stream

Late August on Gander Down

This to me is the essence of the second half of August. The yellow background is made up of lines of cut straw lying on stubble and in the foreground are dry seeding grasses and an umbellifer with nearly all it's seeds stripped (a bar of Green & Black's for the first person who spots Incy Wincy). The big machines are out everywhere, harvesting, ploughing and rattling stacks of straw bales round the lanes looking mighty important.

I also had the most wonderful sighting of a herd of fallow deer late this afternoon just outside Hursley - 10 or 12 of them, including youngsters. I was intending to blip one of these shots, but to be honest they were at the sort of distance that stretched the camera's capabilities a little more than I wanted. So dead seedhead it is. x
