A Grand Square

I've had a grand day out too, in Poundbury, Dorset, where a statue of the Queen Mother was unveiled by the Queen last week. This is the new pub restaurant/hotel, the Duchess of Cornwall, which opens at the weekend. It stands in the square just by the statue. The extra photos show the original farmhouse of Poundbury and the statue.
A kind WI friend who knows Poundbury well took three of us on a tour, complete with maps, coffee and lunch stops all organised! We saw residential areas with a wide variety of architecture, all beautifully built, wide open spaces, shops, light industrial areas, and even the building sites of schools and a church. The plan is to finish the development by 2025 .
The sun shone all day and the Dorset countryside looked wonderful in its autumn colours as we drove back.
