Boat yard across the water

We came across this view of a local boat yard on the River Clyst while out with the local bird watching group.  There was a large group of us on this sunny but cold day.  Having been told that there was not much to be seen around Darts Farm we set off towards Bowling Green Marsh.  One of our first sightings after the Godwits and Gulls was of a kingfisher on a fence with a black cow behind it.  This produced a very clear view of the bird but was too far away for a decent shot from my camera.  We lingered at the bird hide in Bowling Green spotting Black Tailed and a Bar Tailed Godwit,  Avocets, various Gulls including a Mediterranean Gull, Brent Geese and several Ducks.  On approaching the platform overlooking the estuary someone heard a Water Rail and we all stopped to watch the rather magnificent birds with bright red beaks shuffle in and out of the reeds close to a small ditch.  Other people rallied round and several photographers with suitably large lenses appeared.  They should have some good shots.  We then progressed onto Goats Walk where a Goldeneye was spotted far out in the water.

A lovely mornings outing.  If you want to play hunt the kingfisher then the shot in extras shows it on the fence in front of the black cow.
