Retracing my Steps.

Weeks ago l was invited to go back to attend an assembly where l used to teach.
Still not feeling well l decided to keep that appointment.
I went by train, just as l did for many of my teaching years and this shot is the exit from the station.
In September (even though l officially retired after last year' s trip) l organised and went, for the last time, on the school trip to France.
The assembly was to celebrate how this event had enrched the lives of the pupils.
It is an inner city primary school with statistics showing it is in the bottom 3% of the poorest communities in the county.
It was a complete culture shock for many of the children but the benefits were immeasurable.
We have done this trip six times now and every one has been an outstanding success.
So l have to admit l had a little tear in my eye when l heard how much the children had enjoyed the trip, even more so when parents told me how the trip had changed their child in such positive ways and making them more independent and confident.
So for all those teachers out there who are demoralised and exhausted, keep going, you really do make a difference.
It's just we're not often told that and today l was.
