Hilbre walk

Today my walking group went over to the Hilbre Islands which is a group of three islands in the Dee Estuary just off the Wirral. The only access is at low tide and the round trip from West Kirby is around four miles.

We were very fortunate with the weather as it stopped raining when we pulled into the car park and then started again at lunchtime.

Behind the walkers you can see Little Eye while to the right is Middle Eye alongside the biggest of them all, Hilbre which is about 11 acres. In the background, to the left, you can see the Welsh hills.

There are a few buildings on Hilbre but they have been uninhabited since 2012 when the last person left the island. Rangers still visit the island on a regular basis.

Thanks to BobsBlips for hosting the WidWed challenge.
