The village pond on The Street, Leighterton

I've had a good day starting with coffee at Philip's house to plan the next Stroud Community TV Awards evening, which will be a part of next spring's Stroud Film Festival. It looks like we have a good main speaker as well, which will adda frisson to the evening.

Then I drove thirty miles to Bristol to an Open Day held at Calumet, a photographic supplies company I use regularly. They offer a sensor cleaning service in return for a donation to a good charity, so I'm pleased to have that done.

I spent longer than planned talking to the reps about Fujifilm's X series, which I'm very impressed with. If only I had more money to buy good gear!  I also tried a 150-600mm zoom made by Sigma and was able to take the lens outside to test it on my own camera, which will make interesting comparison. I also tested a wide angle Canon L series lens which wasn't as good as I had hoped. Now I wish I'd tried the various Fujifilm cameras. Maybe next Open Day which happen twice each year.

On the drive home, the late afternoon sun was gorgeous and I couldn't resist heading off down an ancient lane to the small village of Leighterton. I wanted to get a shot of the long barrow a few hundred yards outside the village but the sun's direction wasn't ideal.  Then I found the village pond where this goose came to see me escorted by three ducks. I love old traditional village ponds especially when they haven't been too prettified. This one was beside the old church where  old tracks through the farm land form a crossroads.
