Voskresenije in concert

From bleakness about an election in one world power to immense cheer about a choir from another. Voskresenije, the vocal ensemble from St Petersburg who have been visiting Dunoon since, I think, 2001, sang this evening to a packed audience in Holy Trinity church - an audience of all ages who sighed at the soulful bits and stamped their feet like hooligans at the folk songs with which the concert ended.

This photo shows Anatoly Artomonov, the Basso Profundo who has been with the group every year, in full flow delivering Bursch in the Pub - a drinking song - complete with suitable reactions from the choir.

By the time I'd reached this stage in the day, I'd had the choir chez moi since early afternoon, feeding them sandwiches and cake - especially cake! - and lending them Mr PB as rehearsal pianist for an impromptu practice for another concert. Now the singers have been dispersed to various homes, Jurij their conductor is already abed, and I am about to drop.

Been a great day, though.
