Afternoon sunset

As I was taking the picture, George was asking why the sunsets have looked so good lately. 

I mumbled something about the sun being low in the sky, light having to travel through more of the atmosphere, changing the colours...that kind of thing. It seemed to satisfy him, but then I couldn't help wondering if was talking bollocks.  

Having checked it out, I think the explanation was close enough.  But maybe next time I'll google stuff before I open my mouth.
