Sandside Quarry is huge. This is just a part of it. It has been worked for over 100 years.

When you drive down the M6 the enormous quantities of limestone forming the foundations probably came from here.
This is one of four quarries in Arnside/Silverdale. Three have now been closed and two have become Nature Reserves with Peregrines, Little Owls and Orchids.



Quite tricky getting photos ofthe quarry. One has to hold the camera high up over the security fence. The very sharp eyed may be able to see the Langdale Pikes.
