horns of wilmington's cow

You spin me right round....

Lovely day to strap into Keats and head down to Woodhall Dean for a wander. En route on the A1 a VW Transporter went past, and moved back in, then slowed and moved into the fast lane again. Adult passenger and child in the back seat waving through opened windows with big smiles, and snapping pics of the car. Which was fun.

The walk was uneventful as far as wildlife went. I few buzzards, jays heard, two deer spooked towards the end, crowds of partridge on the drive out afterwards. But this circle of foam caught the eye. Spinning in a little cul-de-sca of its own in the burn, it almost looked like an Andy Goldsworthy sculpture. A large-scale rice cake disc.

Home via Gullane following a tip-off from a friend that Waxwings were gathering in massive numbers (he was right, though we only stayed for five minutes or so rather than hanging about with the almost as big crowd of folk with cameras and bins - I like my birding quiet and thoughtful).

Keats got a clean, before being tucked back into the garage, and the chickens had a bit of a roam while I cleaned up the cross bike for the race in Dunfermline tomorrow. Yeast is activating for some flatbread dough to go with the shawarma for dinner. And that's the day about done (contrary to previous pre-race evenings I'm allowing myself a couple of drinks tonight, especially after finding out a William Bros beer is GF, just not yet certified such, the benefit of chatting to your local independent beer shop owner - after a week and a half of a cold, which is alllllllmost done, I'm not expecting any great shakes of a performance tomorrow anyway. My last race of the year, so then got 6 weeks to get back up to speed for the SuperQuaich).
