De Vliet / pronounce Fleet

The transport artery connecting Leiden with Rotterdam via a water canal here arrives at the North side of Delft.
It was originally designed by Roman general Corbulo in 47 AD and then rejuvenated in 14th Century. Now lorry-boats still use this route, altho' here their shipping does get low in numbers and this canal is much used by leasure sailors.

Looking to the South-East is seeing Delft and it's church tower of the New Church as is my entry here.... and looking North-West is looking up to Den Haag that view from the same spot taken you can see in the extra.
