Lady Liberty

We had a fantastic holiday - and barely scratched the surface of New York, although we did see too much of the inside of the Hollister shop while we were there.

Best bits:
1.How friendly and helpful New Yorkers are! Several times on the streets and on the Subway, locals offered to help without being asked when they thought we looked lost. It was very unexpected as you'd imagine they'd be sick of tourists.
2. Top of the Rock - the views were amazing.

Scariest bit:
1 The first time we took the lift to our room on the 30th floor. Eek. After that it was a breeze.
2. After going to the museum of Natural History, we took our first subway ride. It was the middle of the afternoon and the subway carriage was quite empty. A young man with a scary wild-eyed look kept pacing up and down the carriage patting his pocket as if he had a gun or a knife in there. Everyone in the carriage looked intimidated ... and no-one looked him in the eye! We all seemed to start breathing again when he got out at his stop.

I'd love to go again.
