Receiving the Dean's Award

Tonight I went with S to the awards evening for the Faculty of Culture and Society at AUT. She was given an award for her achievements during this year of doing a Masters in Creative Writing. We were joined there by daughter J, whose sister (C) was caught up in her work as head of history at one of Auckland/s biggest secondary schools. My photo shows S with her award, having been given it by Paul, the Chair of the AUT Centre for Creative Writing. He told everyone how well she had done this year, and how impressive that was, especially given the number of difficult events she has dealt with during the year.
