Les jeux eaux limpides

Backblipping again! But we had an important rendezvous last night at C and G's house, for the Jeux Eaux Limpides. This is the competitors getting ready for the regatta, held in a washing up bowl.

Other sports represented included the popular Corsican sport of apérophilie, which due to not being recognised by the IOC was not on display at that other event in London. It is practised in a seated position: balance the dumbells on your little finger and the person who manages to raise and lower them the most times wins. Pastis optional. Somehow we couldn't get the competitors in this section to try any of the other sports: le basket (throw a trainer into a shopping basket from 3 metres); le water polo (lob a ball through a hoop across the paddling pool), le tir (shoot rubber-tipped darts at a plastic jar suspended from a branch), and le disque au bol (throw a CD into a mixing bowl -- everyone who tried this failed).

Undisputed champion of the nocturnal sport of catching moths: the acrobatic Tigrou. The rest of us rapidly lost interest in sport once the rosé and charcuterie came out. A late night was had by all.
