QUICK AS A FLASH!

When I had my shingles injection and we both had our flu injections about a month ago, we were told we couldn’t have the pneumonia injection at the same time - so today was the day for our visit to the surgery.

We went in on time - the injections took seconds to do - and we both said that we hardly knew they had been done, which was why we asked for Rachel again - she’s brilliant!  She laughed when I got my phone out ready to take a photograph - and said she now realised how famous people felt!  Apparently, the side effects may be an aching arm or perhaps a headache and high temperature, but the nurse told us if that happened, just to take paracetamol - but we hope that won’t be necessary.

The good news about Mr. HCB after his hospital appointment yesterday is that he has now been discharged from the hospital but if he has any concerns, he can go to his GP and will be directed back to the skin clinic.

The nurse we saw was lovely and explained things very well but she was also impressed that Mr. HCB had been so diligent not only in using Factor 50 sun cream every day, but also wearing his hat. so when we said how pleased we had been with the service we had received, she asked if we would mind filling in a card to say that.  Of course, I was the secretary, as usual - but it is good to be able to praise rather than complain about our wonderful National Health Service.

Whilst waiting at the hospital, we saw a friend who is a nurse on a different clinic and also Mr. HCB’s nephew and his wife, so quite a social occasion and we walked there and back, so a goodly number of steps were done yesterday.

A bonus today too, was that Mr. HCB took me out for lunch - we went to a favourite place of ours, Fabio's, and enjoyed our time there together.  As we had quite a substantial meal it means I don't have to cook again this evening.  As Mr. HCB said - "I thought it would be a good idea in case your arm is sore" - so you can guess who does the cooking normally - but it was very kind of him and I appreciated the thought;  however, I did resist having a dessert!
