A Monkey's Tale

To Kentisbeare & Beyond

Our mini tour of the South West got well underway today. Pictured is the little village of Kentisbeare, Devon, the place where Jenny grew up & spent 24 years.

We had a good but long & quite late journey (especially having both worked all day) last night to Taunton, Somerset, where we are to stay with some of Jen's friends, Louise & Steve, who are kindly putting us up for a couple of nights & who are also getting married in December. Woop!

Today our task was simple. See three lots of friends & drink a shed load of tea. First we popped over to Cullompton to visit Clare & Mark (Mark I still haven't met, this being our second visit there) & their two year old Izzy & 2 week old Jack. Izzy was a little more trusting of me this time round & is becoming a real little terrible two, but she's very sweet. She loved her Cinderella doll that Jen & I had bought for her & was very excited playing hide & seek. Jack's a real cutey too. He slept most of the time we were there but did had a few little cry's; Jen & I were on hand though to give Clare a moments break & we did manage to keep him happy, sleeping & quiet (importantly).

We then ventured to Kentisbeare, a lovely little place, where we visited Alan & Clare & their two young girls, Lauren & Susannah. Alan was at work but we were well looked after by Clare, Lauren & Susannah, as always: with tea, Lauren's fantastic home-made fudge & some Wii playing too. Susannah gave us a rendition on the piano & the drums too, she's very good.. & quite loud. Lauren didn't let the side down & had a blast on the oboe & a little sing song too. They're very talented & very sweet.

Our final port of call was at Dickie & Kelly's back in Kentisbeare. We had more tea (I must add we both do like tea, so it's not a problem), chatted & met their new cocker spaniel, Libby.

After a long, low key & surprisingly tiring day, we headed back to Louise & Steve's for some lovely home-cooked food by Louise, wine & a dvd. A very nice end to an enjoyable day.
