Bird Fair Day One - The Great Bill Oddie

It was a long, warm and thoroughly enjoyable day.

I must confess it was all a bit overwhelming on arrival. The amount of people, stands, noise and general hub bub was far more than I expected. I am glad I am here for three days, as you most certainly need it.

Today we did all the stands and caught up with tweeters and friends we knew before we came. It was great to put some faces to 140 character messages!

We went to see a few lectures by Mark Avery and David Lindo (The Urban Birder) and ended the day with the utterly incomparable Bill Oddie and Stephen Moss. There was a lot humour and a trip down memory lane. A rather nice way to end day one. Tomorrow we hit the lecture marquees.
