Lodger

After an uncomfortably early morning, some last minute packing and hugs for our hosts (well, a kiss on the toe for the smallest as it was the only bit of her I could find poking out of her duvet), we were off down the dry river bed for the last time this year. But happily with an invite for next year secured - so we can't have been too awful as guests!

Mr B made it all the way to the car hire place before the uncontrollable yawning started, and then we just had to wait for our flight so we could all have a much needed nap. Despite a small panic when the carpark wouldn't take any of our cards (until we gave up and just used the French one) we made it home in one piece, for some quick shopping, lunching and napping.

The house seems to have survived in one piece. The garden doesn't look like it's had any rain, but despite that most plants have survived - including some of the ones in pots. Still, much clearing out and replanting to do once the weather has calmed down a bit: 38 degrees today, and really too hot to be outside at all. Notices all the way home on the motorway warned us of the 'canicule' (heatwave) and to drink lots of water. They weren't joking. This lodger by our front door doesn't seem to mind the heat.

A long struggle will follow to get all my photos off (variously) memory cards, sticks and Mr B's laptop and then there'll be some catch up blipping of the long hot days (and nights) in Spain. As you might expect after a month away, we were happy to be home, but already missing the terrace chat.
