Fort William to Forres

Back blip

We headed north today. Alongside Loch Ness to Inverness, then on to Forres. We stopped off at Brodie Castle for a guided tour and tea. I thought that we had visited before but I think that I have mixed it up with Cawdor Castle, near Nairn.

These castles have interesting histories, influenced by the families that have lived in them. The Brodie family have lived in Brodie Castle for 800 years, through times of plenty and also times of impoverishment!

The 24th Brodie of Brodie was a pioneer in breeding the the modern garden daffodil. As a holiday souvenir I bought a bag of named variety bulbs (3 in the pack) to grow in a pot.

Then on to the B&B. A bit of a difference this time, a booking on airbnb!! We were having difficulty finding somewhere local for the one night, so ended up in someone’s spare room!! It was interesting :0)

These castles have been extended /adapted over the centuries, so for interest I added a rear view in extras.
