Fast and Bonnie

The bronze sculpture of a William Fyfe yacht on a stone plinth erected on the site of the former Fyfe boatyard at Fairlie.

Between 1803 and 1939 over 900 boats were built at this yard and amazingly many classic Fyfe yachts are still at sea. Owned and raced by enthusiasts throughout the world but mainly based in the Mediterranean and the U.S.

In 2013 a Fyfe Regatta was held on the Clyde when over 30 Fyfe yachts returned to Fairlie and took part in 10 days of racing and social events.

William Fyfe I, 1785 - 1865, said his ambition was to build yachts that were "Fast and Bonnie"
