Mr Darcy

Today I have been wrapping up Christmas presents to send abroad.  I am sending this brooch plus some some chocolates made in the UK to my pen friend Peggy in the USA.  Peggy is a a big fan of Pride & Prejudice and Colin Firth's Mr Darcy in particular. 

Peggy and I started writing to each other when she was 11 and I was 12.  We have now been writing to each other for over 50 years.  We have met three times - once in London, once in York and another time in her home city of San Francisco.  We have seen each other through many things - getting married, having children, the loss of our parents, etc. Although we do email we both still prefer letters and write to each other several times a year.
