Lozarhythm of the Day:
The Who - It's Not True (recorded 10 November 1965, IBC Studios, London)
The Who's debut album My Generation was only released in mono but years later the three-track masters were remixed for stereo and released on CD. Some tracks could not be exactly reproduced as final guitar and vocal overdubs had been performed live directly onto the master as it was being mixed to mono. In 2014 the tracks were remixed again, but with Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey adding new guitar and harmony parts on the affected tracks (including My Generation and The Kids Are Alright). These have now been included in a lavish 5CD box set that was released on Friday and which I had pre-ordered. I played CD2 comprising the stereo mix of the album on this day and particularly noticed this Pete Townshend composition, which features the piano of Nicky Hopkins. Whether there are any 2014 overdubs on this particular track is not revealed in the liner notes.
