Supper

7.55 p.m. and this (N.Z. native) tui was having a late snack of red hot poker nectar. The early settlers referred to tui as 'parson birds' because of the tufts of white feathers on their necks. They are handsome birds with black plumage which looks blue/green in the light. Their song is very harmonious although it can be discordant too - they're great mimics and I heard of one which learnt to imitate the sound of a telephone ringing :-)
