Ramblings from Zambia....

By dcafrica

Eyes tightly closed!

Today I visited two nursery schools in Lusaka where I will be working with the teachers!  I was once again shocked to realise the amount of rote learning that goes on, with children behind small desks and crammed into packed rooms!  In the second school the noise was so loud as they recited their alphabet, that I could have done with ear plugs!

It gives me an insight into how to help the teachers and parents come to a different understanding of learning through play!  A challenge awaits me!

The teacher told the kids to close their eyes and put their hands above their heads - as you can  see the boy behind is really doing it well!
