Poppy's big night out

I took Poppy and Daisy to see Melanie Martinez at the Hammersmith Apollo.

It was amazing.

The queue was miles long, crammed full of excited teenage girls and slightly worried parents.

Eventually we got in, found our seats and waited.... and waited... and waited.

Time passed.

The support band came on. 'The Alvarez Kings'. They were very good although it was hard to hear them over the screaming.

Then they went
.
Time passed.

The stage was reset, to look like a nursery with some alphabet blocks, a wardrobe, a cot, some cake.

The lights dimmed... someone came out of the wardrobe! Dressed in a doctors coat with rubber gloves and a latex rabbit head on. They must have trodden on a drawing pin as they writhed about on the floor ( to thunderous cheering ) and then got back into the wardrobe.

Then the band came on, both of them. Again dressed like rabbits.

Finally, the moment we'd all been waiting for..

Melanie Martinez!! Yay jumped out of the cot and proceeded to sing a dozen songs about 'sippy cups',  'pity parties', 'soap' and other things all interspersed with some chat mainly telling us.

She was really pleased to be here
She's feeling a bit ill

One thing you need to know about our Mel is that her mouth is dirtier than a miners gusset, so all of those words had a bad word beginning with 'f' between them.

Anyway the girls loved it, they danced and sang their heads off, it was so lovely to see.

After her 10 or 12 songs Mel was a bit tired and so left, no encore.....

So we came home. The girls hardly able to speak as they'd sung and screamed so much. ;)
