WILDERNESS

Welcome to a grand achievement in an isolated part of the Yorkshire Wilderness on a very wild day !
This is Ribblehead Viaduct . . . part of the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway. The viaduct has 24 spans, with every 6th span being double thickness so that, in the event of an accident, a maximum of 5 spans would collapse. Built between 1870 and 1875, it is a huge tribute to the workers who created it.
Extras show a fisheye view of this grand structure and the nearby station.
