Flooding

Started raining heavily late yesterday afternoon and continued until early this evening. Hadn't realised just how bad the roads would be when I set off for work this morning - 'twas a scary drive in to Berwick. Torrential rain, a strong gusty wind and lots of standing water,  deep in places. The road at Ancroft resembled a lake.

Did the essentials and then set off back home via the A697, the long way round, in case the Berwick Road was impassable. Seems it was a wise decision! The 697 was bad enough - especially near Milfield, where there was a raging torrent of water coming off the hillside and across the road.

Joined MrM and Louie for a paddle around the Common in the afternoon, then MrM insisted on driving on to the Berwick Road to see the floods for himself. We didn't get any further than this - passable by 4x4, but not in our car! Water covering the flood plain and lots of fields too. And it's only November...
