Bands festival

A late blip today as we have been over to Monash University for my son to perform at the Melbourne School Bands & Strings Festival (as the big sign says!).

This is his band on stage (the trombones were at the back, so he can't be seen in this shot) and they performed so well that they have been asked back to perform at the Finale Concert next Saturday, which according to the programme "features outstanding ensembles from the Festival". The festival runs for 18 days and is predominantly high school bands. My son's band was the only junior school in their section, so they should all feel very proud of themselves for doing so well!

This is the start of 3 big weeks for the band, culminating in a competition in Ballarat on 2 September.
