A grand day out

We had a couple of friends staying in a self catering cottage near Stirling and they invited us down to spend sometime with them. We got the train to Stirling and had a great journey through the snow covered mountains and arrived in Stirling at 11.30. Our friends picked us up and we went to a really good Farmshop for lunch. After lots of tea we headed for the Falkirk wheel. Everywhere was freezing including the canal. We could nt see the wheel in action as it was closed for maintenance but it was still interesting and the Mini Kelpies  were there too :)
Next we went to see the Big Kelpies. The lighting was fantastic and the sun was setting and it lit both the giant horses heads up and they glistened in the sunlight. You can see a funny little boat in the photo,it must be some sort of Amphibious boat as it was driving along tow path and then entered the canal. It seems to be used to clear the reeds from the banks.
A quick look at the Wallace Monument and a dip jacuzzi hot tub back  at the cottage before going out for a delicious meal at the Cross Keys pub where I had the best lamb ever :))
