Sunset over the Lake

Out for a walk again this afternoon after a morning in Sundsvall on our book-keeping course.
Rusty's pre-breakfast walk started in darkness and though it ended in daylight the sun was still down when we got home. Breakfast, and then another sleep in his cage while we were away. When we got home four hours later he was fast asleep, but quickly awake and very happy to see us. A quick bite of lunch for us all and then it was out for another walk.
The lake has refrozen now the temperature is just below zero C but all the water produced by the thaw has raised the level of the lake by about 0.5 meter and the strong inflow from the stream has kept this part open.
The sun is just on the way down in this image, at 2:30 pm so getting out in the sun means not hanging around.
Because the snow has virtually disappeared we could walk down across the fields and through the forest with the dog mostly running free.  When we got home after two hours we were all fairly exhausted and sat around (or under) the table.  That's what an early start does, both for humans and dogs!!
He was very interested in the stream banks as usual and even slid down a slope of icy snow into the stream when he got too enthusiastic about sniffing out whatever it is that roams the stream banks.  One possible clue is that there were freshly gnawed trees alongside the stream. It looks like the beavers are returning to this territory - good news for me, but not for the farmer who dug up their dams and drove them away after they flooded large areas of field.
Now we are away for a relaxing evening in front of the fire, a very short supper walk and then early to bed.
If you want to see the gorgeous Rusty today take a look at HarlingDarling's blip.
