Dai Evans originally from North Wales - he trained at Edinburgh University in the 60's in bio chemistry and genetics but ended up spending most of his life working in building restoration and architectural salvage. He specialised in dipping wood, doors etc to strip them of varnish and paint... a very interesting guy, a great raconteur...
