Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Strange clouds

The day has ended with a very definite and colourful flourish!

The "extra", a pair of beaver skulls, serves to record some very good news that came out yesterday. The Scottish government announced that a group Beavers reintroduced to Scotland will be allowed to remain and will be given protected status as a native species,
Native Scottish beavers were hunted to extinction in the 16th century but in 2009 Eurasian beavers taken from Norway were released at Knapdale in Argyll and are now flourishing.
The large beaver skull on the left is that of a globally extinct giant beaver from North America, the one on the right is the Eurasian species that is now free to roam in Scotland.
Come on, England Wales, it's your turn now!
