Where have all the butterflies gone?

I was recently wondering where all the butterflies had gone this year - seems like I had barely seen any over the last few months. An afternoon walk round Farnham Park (Surrey, UK) and the answer is obvious - they were there - hindreds (if not thousands) of them.
