Out of this world

This light lasted for about five minutes and I caught it with the last gasp of my camera battery (bit peeved to discover that the spare battery in the case was flat). I have not fiddled with this -- the trees really were that colour. After the battery ran out I just gazed in amazement at trees and vines before the sun dropped behind the hill and the light was gone. There are yet more ridiculously colourful photos right from here. The sky was rather gorgeous too -- you can't really see it in this photo, but see this one and this one for example. This amazing autumn surely can't last much longer.

In other news, the problem of the very slowly deflating tyre on the car that had been bugging us for a week (without us actually bothering to do anything about it other than re-inflate it) was finally solved when S took it to the tyre place and they found a tack in it. They removed it and repaired it for free.  We really should have done something about it earlier -- I'd driven a couple of hundred kilometres since we first noticed the problem!
