Petworth Park, West Sussex

The park was landscaped by Lancelot "Capability" Brown, and has for centuries hosted its own visually distinctive breed of fallow deer.

The house was built in 1688.  The painter J W W Turner was a frequent visitor, and left his hosts numerous of his paintings in gratitude.

The enormous collection of paintings - spanning several centuries and including works by Claude Lorraine and Flemish Primitives - is astonishing.  And there are carvings by Grinling Gibbons!  Not to be missed.
