Crocheting Dippy the diplodocus

Left work a bit early to go with husband to a hospital appointment and then headed on to London with some friends from my crochet group. We had tickets for a TOFT event at the Natural History Museum to crochet a Dippy the dinosaur soft toy. Dippy, the giant skeleton in the main hall of the museum is going on tour around the UK next year and the workshop was part of the events to mark his departure.

We got to London OK but then had to wait ages for the tube. We just about managed to rendezvous with another friend and eat before the session.

The workshop was quite intimidating at first (and the room was boiling hot), but we gradually all found our crochet mojo and managed to follow the instructions to start one of Dippy's legs. There were lots of people on hand to help and the 90 minutes whizzed by. I think all of our group got started OK and we all stopped to listen to the instructions on how to make up the toy at the end.

We made it back home despite a very slow train journey. A fun evening and something totally mad to do on a Friday night.
