Reading Gaol

We took our visitors to the Artangel exhibition at Reading Gaol. I've walked and driven past the Gaol many times but never been inside the Victorian building. It is now mothballed after being a young offenders insititution.

The artworks were quite interesting but the best bit of the visit was seeing the inside of the gaol and the cell where Oscar Wilde was imprisoned. There were some fascinating photos of former inmates in the 1900s. Those thought likely to reoffend were photographed so that they could be readily identified.

Came home and continued the eating and chatting with our guests.
