A Pox On Jeff Bezos

He's the head honcho at Amazon if you didn't know.

The title comes after I tried to watch a film from Amazon on their Firestick.  I saw that they had The Natural* available for free and so I tried to watch it.  It has a German certificate that says anyone over the age of 6 can watch it.

So I clicked play.

Little pop-up box - You have tell Amazon that you're old enough to watch this film.  So I fire up my computer and log in to Amazon.  The place where I've had an account for donkeys years, and it uses my credit card that you have to be 18 to have.

Amazon "So, if you'll just enter the number of your passport please."

As someone far more eloquent than I put it, "Away and f*** yourself."

Seriously - why do you need my passport number to allow me to watch a film that only pre-schoolers should not be allowed to watch?

I find that way too intrusive.  I mean how do they get access to the data connected to my passport?  Who said that was OK that the passport office could give out that information about me to anyone who has the number?

Something stinks.

So I will be cancelling Prime and I won't be using Amazon again.

*1984 film with Robert Redford, Glenn Close, ostensibly about a baseball player but could be seen as a comment on the American Dream.  It's alright but if you haven't seen it, you're not missing much.
