The Road to Lough Dan

We woke up this morning to low cloud and drizzle, not quite the sunshine that had been forecast but it didn't exactly come as a surprise! We altered our plans for a high-level horseshoe to do an out and back route to Lough Dan from Pier Gates. There had been a possibility of doing a circular route around the Lough from the B&B where we had been staying, but the advice was that it was very wet underfoot indeed.

I think our choice was a good one. We started off high in the mist but soon descended into better visibility and, despite a few showers, enjoyed a very scenic walk along an old byway through a very well maintained estate. With the cloud enveloping the hills, it was all very atmospheric. There were many beautiful trees along the route and this one in particular caught my eye.

After the walk we returned to Dublin and enjoyed a quick stroll around the vibrant Temple Bar area before I had to head off to catch my flight back home to Leeds, leaving TJ to enjoy some more Rhythm and Roots music tonight. The long weekend has passed very quickly, but we seem to have packed a lot into the time. I feel ready now to face what is likely to be a very hard week at work.
