Evy...

This is an image i took of a dear friend Evy, a few months ago, it's the best one i have.   Evy passed away late last night, and i just want to record this in my journal for historical reasons.

Evy was a woman who spread love and joy throughout this community.   She was the bravest person i have ever known.  In the face of receiving her 4th diagnosis of cancer, over a year ago, she continued to smile, laugh and spread love. The day found she found out this information, she was booked to sing at our Night at the Nunnery event....and sing she did!!   Her voice was strong and passionate....she told us all what was going on....there was no more treatment, and so she would choose to continue to live a joy filled life.   And i think for the most part she did.   To witness her with Barrie, her husband of 45 years, was to see true love - true devotion!

She hugged like no other, her smile truly came from a place deep inside her heart!   A music teacher for many years, she had an incredible voice and sang every opportunity she could get.  you could tell she was in her glory when she was singing.   I last saw Evy about 4-5 weeks ago, at the gala night of the Writer's festival...it was a surprise and a very painful experience.   She was uncomfortable and dealing with a lot of pain, but there she was, accepting (almost demanding!!) hugs from all her friends.

To say we will miss Evy is a huge understatement.   Wednesday markets just won't be the same....she and Barrie came by every week....she purchased many of my mugs and cups etc., and always those bear hugs that you felt right in your soul!!
