Another Australian immigrant

Leaving work today, I heard some trills which initially I associated with the rowing eight on Lake Pupuke. When I realised that this was birds (magpies) rather than schoolgirls, I quickly located the source. Two magpies were on the ground near the hedge between the adjacent girls' school and the hospital grounds.

As I took a few photographs, they paid each other intense attention until sudden consummation occurred; by which stage they were in quite the wrong place for any intrusive photography.

Instead you have my first shot; of the proud stance the male adopted more or less throughout.
