Navvie's Memorial

This memorial to miners and navigators killed during the construction of the Bramhope Railway Tunnel can be found in the churchyard of All Saints Parish Church, Otley.

Bramhope Tunnel runs for over 2 miles and was built for the Leeds & Thisk Railway between 1846 and 1849. Over 2,000 men worked on it's construction and once completed a memorial was erected for those who lost their lives. The memorial is a replica of the northern port and records the names of the 23 miners and excavators (navvies) who died.
