Famous Maestro

This is a bust of Sir John Barbirolli, the world famous conductor, who saved Manchester's orchestra, the Halle. He led it from 1943 to his death in 1970. He guest conducted most of the world's most famous orchestras.
The bust is at the entrance to Manchester's Bridgewater Hall where we went to hear the Halle this afternoon with friends.
The highlight was Brahms' Violin Concerto.
Itwas inspiring.
